Despite the pandemic and its challenging times with our schools, student-athletes, families, and local communities, the CIF Los Angeles City Section is proud to announce that it has decided to honor our student-athletes with a chance to earn a $1,000 scholarship.
Awards – Six (6) Section athletes, three males and three females, will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship each. Two winners (one male & one female) will be selected per season of sport: fall, winter, spring, for a total of six winners.
The Awards Committee will decide which season of sport the student will be eligible for the award. A student may be a multi-sport athlete but only eligible to win during one season of sport. A student may not win multiple times.
Academics include seven semester grades as well as the 10-week report card for this semester. Athletics include the student's participation at the varsity level during his/her freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year (please include the sports you intend to play this year).
Presentation of the scholarship awards will be made at the Board of Managers meeting on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
Qualifications – College-bound high school seniors whose academic and athletic careers have been truly exemplary and whose personal standards (i.e., integrity, honesty, respect, etc.) and accomplishments are a positive model for others.
Students Must:
- Possess no less than an unweighted cumulative (grades 9-12) GPA of 3.50.
- Demonstrated athletic ability in at least two years of varsity play within our Section.
- Have portrayed themselves as an athlete of character, displaying the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
