Baseball Championships

The Division II semi-final was played Monday at USC and were both hard fought to the end. In the opener, Huntington Park took the lead in the top of the 7th only to see it vanish in the bottom of the inning as Van Nuys came from behind to advance to the Section Championship for the second year in a row. In the night cap, Dorsey jumped out to a commanding lead in the 4th inning and held on to defeat South East High School in a strong display of office by a score of 8 - 5. The number 1 seed, Dorsey advances to the section baseball final for the first time since 1958. Dorsey will be the designated home team and assigned the third base dugout, with Van Nuys in the visitors first base dug out.

Advancing to the Division III final is Fulton Prep and Port of Los Angeles Charter. Fulton Prep defeating Animo Venice Charter and POLA defeating Rancho Dominguez to advance to the championship game. Both teams coming from behind in the late innings to capture the victory in the semi-final round.

It will be an all West Valley League Division I championship. At the Division I Semi-final games played at USC on Tuesday, June 3, Chatsworth defeated Palisades by a score of 3 - 2 to advance to the Section final for the twelfth time in the past 15 years. Chatsworth relied on a strong defense and opportunistic offense to continue their drive for the championship. In the night cap, Birmingham surprises Narbonne by defeating the number 2 seed in the tournament by a score of 3 - 1. Narbonne never seemed to get on track as Birmingham took advantage of every opportunity and out lasted the Gauchos for the victory. Chatsworth and Birmingham split their league series during the regular season and are both looking to win the series and the Section Championships. Chatsworth will be the designated
home team and assigned the third base dugout. Birmingham is the visitor and will be in the first base dugout.

Ticket will only be sold at the event, at the third base Field Box entrance. Ticket prices for the Division I & II Championship double header are set at: $8 General Admission, $6 Students, $6 Seniors over 60, and children 4 and under are free.
The only entrance to the parking for Dodger Stadium will be the Sunset Blvd, entrance. Parking is free for all spectators, park in Lot G behind the center field fence. There will be only one stadium entrance via the 3rd Base Field Box Entrance to the stadium.

For the enjoyment of the spectators, the Dodger Stadium management will open concession stands with Dodger Dogs and other refreshment items on the menu.

SPECTATORS WITH BODY PAINT OR NOISE MAKERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE STADIUM.
