Birmingham defeated Taft last week, 29-26, to take control of the West Valley League race. The Patriots are in search of their fifth consecutive league title. Senior Sterling Salguero rushed for 351 yards on 46 carries and three touchdowns for Birmingham in a spirited effort on the Toreadors’ home field.
