Legacy Girls Basketball Makes Statement With Tournament Title

With the basketball playoffs approaching in less than a month, one team which has taken the City by storm has been the Legacy Tigers. Led by Coach Ronald Estrada, the Tigers recently won the Legacy Tournament Platinum Division with monumental wins against two traditional City powers.

In pool play, the Tigers (20-1) knocked off Narbonne, 58-39, and then defeated the defending Open Division champions, Palisades, with a thrilling 65-62 victory in the championship game.

The Legacy Tournament featured 64 teams broken down into four separate 16-team brackets hosted by Legacy, Bell, Jordan and Marquez. The Tigers competed at the highest level and served notice to the entire Section that they could very well earn the #1 seed in the Open Division for the upcoming playoffs.

Here is a video on the championship game victory against the Lady Dolphins as well as stories written by Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times and Steve Galluzzo of the Palisadian Post.
